Our Approach: Kids Learning Through Play

 

DCCDC is a Five-Star accredited preschool program serving children 6 weeks to five years old.  Using a “Learning Through Play” approach, we make learning and growing fun! Children learn the importance of responsibility, sharing and teamwork, all while smiling, laughing, singing and just being kids.

We believe in using a holistic approach to address each child's unique developmental needs and interests.  Our program utilizes the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development (NCFELD), which is designed to "support active learning and promote children's progress in all developmental areas." NCFELD includes the following five domains:

     1. Approaches to Play and Learning
     2. Emotional and Social Development
     3. Health and Physical Development
     4. Language Development and Communication
     5. Cognitive Development
 

Our classrooms are designed to stimulate children’s imaginations with age appropriate activities, toys, and games.

 

We believe that outdoor play is critical to a well-rounded educational experience.  Children get plenty of time to play in our large, fenced playground, complete with swing and play sets, gardens, and a variety of outdoor play stations.

At DCCDC, we believe in partnering with parents and pride ourselves on providing a strong community of support and resources to ensure your child's well-being and success. We utilize the Procare App to ensure that parents receive constant feedback on their children throughout the day and can easily stay up to date with important news and events.

As experts in early childhood development, our skilled teaching staff works closely with parents to identify and address development issues or delays as early as possible.
